I know that the first paragraph is not necessarily my province but it’s something I feel strongly about.
So: The annual general meeting is YOUR chance to..
1. Contribute any ideas - big or small for the next year.
2. Shape and mould YOUR club into what you want.
3. Elect officers to serve YOU and maybe even volunteer to do something YOURSELF however small.
4. AIR YOUR GRIEVANCES if you can't do this on the night please don't do it all the way through the next year. A case of put up or shut up "Harsh but true".
If you are not there, HOW can you influence any of the decisions made that WILL affect YOU.
Bring your ideas and suggestions with you and help make the club work for YOU, Its only once a year please make the effort it’s YOUR CLUB.
Anyway enough of the soapbox. I think we have had a good year socialy although my dialling finger is a little sore from reminding you all when things are!!
If you have any suggestions for next year please let me know before I do the social list in 2006.
One of the subjects up for discussion at the AG M is : “Are there too many social events not enough or about right?” I need to know. Also do you want just a Dinner or a Dinner Dance next year?
Ten of us are off to Ghent on the 26th November for a weekend of Track cycling and chocolate!
Total cost of this trip worked out at £121 for 2 nights in 4 star hotel, transport and tickets. Perhaps something for you to think about for next year - ask those who've been. I still have one ticket left if anyone is interested.
Mulled wine and mince pies at our house as tea stop on December the 4th. Everyone is welcome. (What! Even Lance Armstrong?) Editor checking to see if you are reading this.
Finally (thank god you say) the main event of the year; The Dinner and Prize Presentation at the Mid Sussex golf club Spatham Lane Ditchling on Saturday 28th January 2006. Please come and show your support and recognition for the club, it’s winners and everyone who has ridden a bike in anything this year. Also all those people who contribute their time and effort to the club in all sorts of ways. Anyway it’s nice to wear something other than Lycra and have a dinner out with friends. Please come!!! (see “Read More” for details).
